The Philosophy Department offers a wide variety of undergraduate courses to meet the needs of students with a diversity of interests, and academic and professional backgrounds. By studying philosophical texts and problems from both historical and contemporary perspectives, students develop critical thinking, analytical writing, and conceptual skills that prepare them for a range of careers and further study. Our faculty specialize in areas including ethics, social and political philosophy, history of philosophy, philosophy of science, feminist philosophy, and more. We are committed to inclusive, engaged teaching and to scholarship that addresses both enduring questions and urgent social issues. Position Summary
The position is an Adjunct Instructor position in the Department of Philosophy at Portland State University. The courses typically taught by our Adjunct pool are 300-level Philosophy courses that are also part of University Studies Junior Clusters.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution and prior college-level teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Phd in Philosophy from an accredited institution and prior college-level teaching experience.

CompensationAdjunct faculty members are paid per credit hour per the PSUFA Collective Bargaining Agreement which can be found at https://www.pdx.edu/academic-affairs/academic-unions#psufa
