Your Role: Electrical Design Engineer

We need a transformer-savvy electrical engineer to join our U.S. Power Transformers team in Washington, MO. You will lead quoting and design efforts for 3-phase power transformers rated 5000 KVA and above, up to 161kV. You will solve complex technical challenges, support customers, and improve product quality through hands-on engineering and collaboration.


What You'll Do

  • Design 3-phase, 50/60 Hz power transformers with ratings of 5000 KVA and above, up to 161,000 volts
  • Verify transformer performance under short circuit, overvoltage, and thermal conditions
  • Interpret customer specifications and define accurate transformer requirements
  • Create and submit customer drawings, shop drawings, and manufacturing instructions
  • Develop test protocols and review factory test reports
  • Respond to customer inquiries and deliver techno-commercial solutions

Requirements:

Basic:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)with major in Electrical Machine Design/Power System or Bachelor of Science (physics) with major in Electro Magnetism.
  • Ability to work within the WEG Code of Ethics & Values. (WEG Code of Ethics, 4th Edition)
  • 5+ Years of Experience in Power Transformer Industry with 5+ years of experience in design of power transformers of minimum 30MVA capacity and voltage class of minimum 115KV with Load Tap Changer.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with engineering principles and procedures.
  • Strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate in basic English;
  • Demonstrated examples of taking initiative, identifying new methods and approaches, and challenging current methods of working;
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks;
  • Experience using standard office productivity software; Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
  • Must complete: application, talent assessment, job interview, pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Has current work authorization for employment in the United States or.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency using AutoCAD;
  • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting power quality;
  • Experience analyzing system designs;
  • Resides or plans to reside within reasonable commuting distance;
