MSA Safety is now hiring at our in Houston, Texas location for a Warehouse Technician I. In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
Â
- Unload incoming deliveries safely to reduce risk of product damage. Document any damaged material on freight bills and inform Supervisor and Site Lead before unloading or receiving material. Verify quantities and content received using Bill of Ladings/Sales Orders and Supplier Packing Lists. Unpack, check, separate, and store materials received. Perform manual data entry in the computer system of all material received daily. Distribute internal deliveries as required. Assist with problem solving, inquiries, and handle escalated internal customer issues.
- Pick, pack and prepare outgoing shipments for customer orders using a variety of shipping methods and kitting practices. Schedule freight carriers for outbound shipments daily. Ensure proper shipping standards to reduce risk of product damage in transit. Comply with the US Department of Transportation and International Air Transport Association Dangerous Goods Regulations. Determine and approve most economical manner in which to ship.
- Complete and maintain relevant paperwork, by sorting, filing, organizing, and bar code scanning. Manually enter data in the computer system and adhere to all general and customer-specific procedures.
- Perform cycle count duties per site schedule and inventory cycle count duties annually, or as required.
- Perform OSHA required daily checklist for all powered industrial trucks. Follow PM schedule and perform light maintenance on equipment.
- Daily housekeeping to maintain clean and organized warehouse.
- Obtain and retain training in, and perform duties surrounding, cable cutting and swaging.
- Responsible for prioritizing warehouse requirements including shipping, receiving, will call, swaging, training, service, and sales needs and requests.
- Aid other departments located in building including service, sales and training.
- Determine and resolve customer issues with direct interface.
Qualifications- Minimum 6 months motorized equipment experience
- Ability to:
- perform routine duties, recognize unusual conditions, and solve minor problems.
- to effectively communicate with various levels within the organization including training new associates and temporary agency assignments, internal and external customers, and suppliers.
- perform standard software operations including SAP, UPS, and FedEx.
- frequently lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- occasionally lift over 50 pounds with assistance.
- infrequently lift or move material weighing 90 pounds or heavier with the use of proper equipment.
- frequently walk, stand, crouch, stoop, bend, reach or climb for prolonged periods of time.
- frequently ascend, retrieve material, and descend safely on a 9-foot rolling ladder.
- work in a team environment, or work independently with minimal supervision, and interact positively with others within the organization.
- prioritize and organize work.
- work flexible shifts.
- make and carry out decisions on a daily basis.
- communicate and resolve customer issues.
- Strong attention to detail to prevent damage and loss of materials or products.
- Must attain and maintain a powered industrial truck certification with an acceptable safety record.
- Must be proficient in basic math and have legible handwriting.
- Operate at a level that meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards for the work area.
- Warehouse is not air conditioned in the summer.
Education Preferred:
- High School Diploma or GEDÂ
