Laboratory Manager II

The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Neurological Surgery at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a Lab Manager II. The essential Functions include managing day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality control and best practices. Works with, adapts, and installs scientific equipment in research laboratories. Develops and collaborates on routine projects and procedures. Manages inventory and equipment and performs budget functions. Develops routine projects and procedures. Researches and evaluates new products and equipment; orders and repairs specialized and routine equipment as needed. Maintains and adapts scientific equipment for experimental needs of the department. Troubleshoots, installs, and adapts electronic devices and other samples for research investigations. Confers with researchers and faculty concerning research needs and methods. Prepares budget requests and manages approved budget. Prepares and analyzes data; keeps accurate and timely data logbooks. May perform duties of lower-level roles e.g. Laboratory Research Technician, Research Program Coordinator, etc. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations for waste disposal.
Minimum education to be considered for this position is a Bachelor's degree in a related field but an advanced degree is preferred.
