Essential Job Functions:  

The Bookmark Contest Temporary Assistant will work closely with MACRO's ADR Media Resource Coordinator in executing the 2025 annual Conflict Resolution Day Bookmark Art Contest and awards ceremony. This contest in open to Maryland students in kindergarten through eighth grades, and averages approximately 3,000- 4,000 entries from across the state.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities are to assist with:

Receiving, logging, and scanning bookmark entries.

Responding to contestant and general public requests for information about the contest.

Preparing the entries for the contest judging process.

Helping to facilitate the judging process.

Notifying contest winners and honorable mentions.

Assist with designing and installing the Bookmark Contest display at the Maryland Judicial Center.

Creating an engaging PowerPoint presentation for the event and the MACRO website.

Assisting with the award ceremony logistics.

Documenting the debrief after the event.

Assist with preparing entries to be returned to schools.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

High School or GED

Preferred Experience:

Excellent skills working with the full Microsoft suite - particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Cursory knowledge of design and working with graphics.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to pay close attention to details and adhere to schedules.

Experience working with the public preferred.

Ability to work creatively and independently.

Willingness to ask questions and offer ideas.

Note:

This is a fully on-site position. The selected candidate will work up to 90 days between October and-January. The person will work a flexible schedule of 12-20 hours per week at the Maryland Judicial Center located at 187 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD. The successful candidate should be able to lift and carry materials up to 10-15 pounds.  The assignment will end at 90 days from the start date or upon completion of the project, whichever comes first. Parking is free.
