Overview

Under the direction of the Engineering Lab Manager, the Engineering Design Technician will test and develop laundry equipment and related subsystem designs to meet company performance, safety and reliability requirements. This includes planning and executing test programs, establishing and maintaining test capabilities and processes, and communicating test results to internal stakeholders.  



Responsibilities

  • Development, validation, and life testing of products to measure performance and ensure we meet agency requirements 
  • Assist with development of new designs for improvements, safety, quality control, and test reliability 
  • Develop fixtures to accelerate testing by using extreme conditions and rapid cycles  
  • Utilize Microsoft Office, data acquisition equipment (National Instrument), voltage meters, t-couples, environmental chambers, HiPot tester, Oscilloscope, ground bond tester, etc.  
  • Hook-up utilities to products, troubleshoot problems, analyze parts, and make recommendations for improvement 
  • Perform EMI/EMC testing 
  • Write formal lab reports to include test procedures, equipment, raw data, summarized results, conclusion, and recommendations 
  • Build prototype machines and components/sub-assemblies 
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop lab tests and prioritize lab activities to support engineering timelines 

 



Qualifications



Education and Experience:  

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent, plus 8 years professional work experience required  
  • If you have a(n): 
  • Associate degree (or are pursuing one) in Mechatronics, Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, Mechanical Design, Electrical or closely related program, this will count toward 2-4 years of the experiential requirement above  
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related program, this will meet the experiential requirement above in its entirety 

 

Skills and Abilities:  

  • Electrical and Mechanical troubleshooting skills   
  • Ability to read and utilize a wiring diagram 
  • Systems-proficient, particularly in MS Office products; LabVIEW experience is a plus 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Solid organizational skills; able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines 

Travel: 

  • Regular travel not required 

 

Standard and Physical Requirements: 

  • Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting
