Post Doctoral Associate Akcakaya Lab
Electrical and Computer Engineering - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25003555)

Postdoctoral Position for the Development of Machine Learning Methods for Sleep Research at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of Pittsburgh.

The laboratory of Murat Akcakaya, PhD, at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of Pittsburgh is seeking motivated, creative and enthusiastic scientists to join us in developing machine learning methods to research and explore multi-modal sleep patterns to map prospective relationships between sleep, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). The candidate is required to have a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields. Additional skills in coding in Python, statistical signal processing, and deep neural network model development are also welcome. The research in Akcakaya’s lab has been supported by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation. Akcakaya’s lab has ample opportunities to develop valuable scientific skillsets in machine learning, data analysis and statistical signal processing in multi-disciplinary research.

The candidate will also closely work with Meredith Wallace, PhD, from the Psychiatry Department of the University of Pittsburgh to complete the envisioned research. The candidate is expected to develop machine learning methods to combine information from self-report, actigraphy sleep features/time-series data, and electronic health records (EHR)-derived sleep features to map the prospective associations between sleep and changes in (i) CVD risk factors, (ii) major adverse cardiovascular events, and (iii) ADRD.

Required PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
