Job Summary
The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment Department of Horticulture seeks a Horticulture Extension Associate. This person will explore workforce trends and needs across horticulture industry segments and work directly with industry stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver educational programs and resource materials that will advance Kentucky horticulture operations in concert with collaborating faculty. This is a grant funded position.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
• Knowledge of controlled environment agriculture and specialty crop production, including production systems, vegetable and ornamental production practices, marketing etc.
• Ability to engage with specialty crop growers and supporting industries through site visits and consultations to assess and address technical, labor, and supply chain challenges.
• Strong organizational and communication skills to maintain and regularly update a comprehensive grower database in collaboration with county agents, extension staff, and industry partners.
• Experience in developing educational content, curriculum, and training materials for diverse audiences, and deliver educational programs and workshops

Master’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in a related field.
