Position Description:

Position Summary:

The Plant Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the asphalt plant.


Essential Functions:


  1. Adheres to all safety rules, wears proper PPE at all times, and works safely on all jobs.
  2. Operates the designated asphalt plant daily.
  3. Serves as the primary operator responsible for overseeing and managing operations during the shift, ensuring efficient production of asphalt materials.
  4. Handles processing of orders and provides customer service.
  5. Performs preventative maintenance on the plant.
  6. Orders supplies and monitors fuel levels.
  7. While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to stand for up to 10–12 hours (rest breaks as required by law will be provided); use hands; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; walk; climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks; stoop, bend, twist, kneel, and crouch.
  8. Reports immediately to the Plant Manager any equipment damage, safety hazards, or accidents.
  9. Must be able to consistently lift and/or manipulate, with push/pull force, approximately 50 pounds.
  10. Flexibility regarding the schedule, including early and/or extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience with asphalt plant operations.
  3. Strong mechanical aptitude, with welding and cutting experience.
  4. Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  5. Proficiency with computers and related software.
  6. Excellent customer service skills.
  7. Must be highly motivated and able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  9. Must pass a physical examination and drug screening.

Employee may sit for an hour or more at a time.
