Title: Culinary Lab Technician

Reports to: Culinary Program Coordinator

Date: August 12, 2025

General Summary: The Hospitality & Culinary Arts Program at Middlesex Community College is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative individual to serve as the Culinary Lab Technician on the Lowell Campus. This position offers a unique opportunity to support the educational mission of the culinary program by managing and maintaining the kitchen and lab spaces while ensuring a safe, clean, and well-equipped environment for students and faculty. The Technician will assist culinary faculty with lab setup and supply coordination while supporting day-to-day kitchen operations aligned with health and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lab & Kitchen Operations
    • Coordinate with culinary faculty to determine kitchen and lab supply needs.
    • Oversee shopping and ordering of all necessary ingredients and supplies for culinary classes.
    • Receive and stock deliveries, process invoices, and maintain records of all purchase orders.
    • Monitor, maintain, and ensure the cleanliness and readiness of culinary spaces prior to scheduled classes.
    • Maintain inventory of kitchen and cleaning supplies; replenish as needed to ensure operational efficiency.
    • Monitor solution levels for dishwashing and sanitation equipment; order and refill as necessary.
    • Facilitate repair and maintenance of kitchen equipment using the SchoolDude maintenance request system.
    • Collaborate with cafeteria vendors regarding maintenance, cleanliness, and space coordination
  • Health & Safety Compliance:
    • Maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment in accordance with OSHA safety protocols and ServSafe Manager standards.
    • Identify and resolve any operational issues impacting equipment usage or space functionality.
  • Faculty & Student Support:
    • Provide onsite support to adjunct culinary faculty during class hours.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative atmosphere that supports student learning and success.


Job Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Experience in the culinary arts or restaurant field

  • Current ServSafe Food Handler Certification

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse college community



Additional Information:

Hourly Rate: $20.75 in accordance with Middlesex Community College's Part-Time Wage Schedule

Location: Lowell campus with occasional travel to Bedford as needed

Hours: 18.5 per week, schedule to be determined upon hire

Expected Start Date: September/October 2025
