Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. Assists with interventional procedures as needed, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process. Collaborates with physicians and healthcare team members to provide high-quality diagnostic images for accurate interpretation.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform Ultrasound exams
Enter patient demographics into database to provide tracking of images through digital storage
Ensure appropriate exam is performed based on physician’s orders and patient history
Delineates anatomy, disease process or pathological conditions within patient population
Interprets ultrasound findings and tailors additional images based on most likely diagnosis
Provide accurate and consistent patient education and explanation of exams
Update patient logs and submits billing
Ensure operation of equipment and coordinates equipment maintenance
Assist with training and other duties as necessary or assigned.
May assist physician or other staff with invasive procedures
Other duties as assigned/necessary
Qualifications:
Proven experience performing diagnostic ultrasound exams across various specialties
Proficiency with ultrasound equipment and image archiving systems (PACS)
Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and common pathologies
Ability to accurately interpret ultrasound findings and adjust imaging techniques accordingly
Detail-oriented with strong documentation and data entry skills
Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and education
Commitment to patient care, safety, and maintaining confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities under minimal supervision
Capable of working independently and as part of a healthcare team
Willingness to participate in staff training, mentoring, and ongoing professional development
Education:
High School diploma or GED required
Graduate of accredited ultrasound program
Certification or registry eligible for certification through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)

Technical/other training or better.
Experience

Sonography certification through ARDMS.
Eligible to perform Ultrasound in the state of Kentucky.
Two years professional job-related experience.
