Post Doctoral Associate
UPCI Basic Research Administration - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25003954)

The Li Lab, led by Dr. Renfeng Li, at the University of Pittsburgh, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position. We are seeking a highly motivated scientist with expertise and interest in virology. This Postdoctoral Associate will explore how Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is regulated by host restriction factors, specifically ASB family proteins. EBV, widely known for causing infectious mononucleosis (also called “mono” or the "kissing disease"), is also a major contributor to nasopharyngeal carcinoma (a type of head and neck cancer), gastric cancer, and various lymphomas. The Postdoctoral Associate will investigate the molecular mechanisms by which ASB13 regulates the EBV reactivation. The work will include cell culture, biochemical characterization, mass spectrometry, EBV life cycle models, and other tasks as assigned by the principal investigator.

Position Requirements:

  • A PhD or MD, or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline, Biology, Virology, or similar
  • Proven track record of research and publications in cancer-related fields.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in:

    • Cell culture
    • Biochemical characterization
    • Mass spectrometry
    • EBV life cycle models

We are committed to continuing to create and maintain an environment that allows individuals to discover, belong, contribute, and grow while honoring the experiences, perspectives, and unique identities of all.
