The Institute on Development and Disability within the Department of Pediatrics at OHSU works with patients, families, clinicians, researchers and many other professionals to meet the goal of improving the lives of people with disabilities. We perform research and care to support every patient, from premature babies to older adults, facing changes in life due to the onset of disabling conditions. Function/Duties of PositionThe OCCYSHN Title V Family Involvement Coordinator position resides within the Oregon Center of Children and Youth with Special Health Needs (OCCYSHN) in the Institute on Development & Disability (IDD) at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). This position exists to fulfill the mandates of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau Title V Block Grant program for children with special health care needs program and other objectives and goals of the OCCYSHN/IDD/OHSU.
The Title V Family Involvement Coordinator reports to the OCCYSHN Family Involvement Manager and will serve as the primary coordinator for all Title V Family Involvement work related to block grant strategies, activities, projects, and during the block grant writing itself. As part of the Family Involvement Program, the Title V Family Involvement Coordinator will contribute to strategic planning efforts, including the development, planning, and implementation of strategies and activities to ensure ongoing, meaningful family involvement in OCCYSHN, Title V, and IDD-OCCYSHN partnered activities.
In addition, the position will use promote family leadership in Oregon systems, generally, and family-professional partnerships in health care policy. This will include participation in state and national level meetings/committees, creation of tools and guides to promote family leadership, and providing technical assistance to external partner organizations as needed. To do this, the Title V Family Involvement Coordinator will use current literature and tools from recognized advocacy and health care entities such as: Family Voices, Federation of Families, Association of Maternal Child Health Programs, Institute on Family Centered Care, American Academy of Pediatrics and National Academy for State Health Policy.
