Working alongside global Project Engineering Teams and Product Management, the Global Product Engineer identifies, develops, and implements engineering and design process standards and automation to reduce design cycle times, increase design capacity, and improve Bill of Material quality across Industrial Process.



Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Project management for design and engineering automation & standardization projects using voice of customer and interviews with users and subject matter experts with focus on productivity enhancements.
  • Continually Improve Engineering processes, evaluate causes of poor quality and poor on-time performance, defining and implementing solutions. 
  • Assess engineering team knowledge and competency, identify training needs, define training plans and work with Operations Managers to implement them. Specific focus on developing tacit knowledge of standard engineering systems, pumps, applications, and auxiliary systems.
  • Establish clear and effective communication channels between Project Execution Engineering and Product Design Centers.
  • Develop and execute product localization plans for engineering related activities to ensure all relevant technical aspects of the product are covered to ensure successful project execution by the receiving operation.   Projects will require management and facilitation of various engineering resources, IT and other functions as required.

  • Design of new Standard Package Product Components using Standard Design procedures

    • Define resources and project schedule.
    • Do work, direct work of others by utilization of current employees or external resources as necessary, and manage the schedule of the task assigned.

     

    Project management for design and engineering automation & standardization projects using voice of customer and interviews with users and subject matter experts with focus on the following. 


    • Design and engineering quality improvement
    • Reduce engineering & design cycle time and effort
    • Cost reduction
    • Reducing RTF’s
  • Improve Project Execution Engineering quality and on-time performance through the following activities

    • Establish clear and effective communication channels between Project Execution Engineering and the Vertical and Horizontal pump Design Centers
    • Ensure timely technical support is provided for pumps and packages by either responding directly or delegating to others.
    • Ensure Pump Design and New Design Adaptations are directed to Design Centers for Execution as Needed
    • Ensure complex pump and package designs have appropriate risk assessments and mitigation plans
    • Define and implement process improvements and best practices.
    • Ensure utilization of common design methods and tools.
  • Continually Improve Project Execution Engineering processes by understanding causes of poor quality and poor on time performance and defining and implementing solutions.  Improve Project Execution Engineering productivity by understanding the time required for various tasks and defining ways to reduce the effort.

  • Assess employee knowledge and competency, identify training needs, define training plans and work with Operations Engineering Managers to implement them.  Training will range from mentoring to formal training and will require support from other engineering personnel, IT and others.  Specific focus on developing tacit knowledge of standard engineering systems, pumps, applications, and auxiliary systems.


Qualifications



Qualifications:

  • 4 year (minimum) Engineering Degree – Mechanical preferred
  • 5 years of experience in rotating equipment design & manufacture preferred

Other Skills/Knowledge:

  • Solid Modeling programs, PTC Creo preferred.
  • PLM Data Management Systems, PTC Windchill preferred
  • ERP Systems such as SAP, BPICS, EPICOR, & PRMS
  • New Product Development Processes
  • Pump specifications, ISO, HI, API
  • Industry standards ASME II, VIII and IX, ASTM, ANSI.
  • Product configuration systems (ePrism, Intelliquip, etc.)
  • Knowledge of drafting standards.
