NOTE: This role is hybrid and requires working in the office (Alexandria, VA) 2 days every other week. Travel is required (up to 20% of the year) for meetings and events, including travel to WEF’s annual conference, WEFTEC.


How This Position Contributes to the Team:

Manages volunteer engagement and operational activities for the House of Delegates’ work groups and

committees. Supports volunteer management efforts to strengthen WEF’s connection with Member Associations

and foster meaningful engagement across WEF’s volunteer network. Provides subject matter expertise and

operational support to advance volunteer initiatives. Serves as the primary point of contact for assigned Member

Associations and other WEF volunteer groups, ensuring collaboration between WEF staff, Member Associations,

and the House of Delegates.


Key Responsibilities:

- Manages the House of Delegates (HOD) Committees and Work Groups by maintaining meeting schedules,

developing agendas in collaboration with volunteer leaders, and tracking action items and outcomes. Provides

guidance, operational support, and serves as the primary point of contact to strengthen volunteer engagement.

- Creates and delivers training for Member Association (MA) leaders, providing resources and guidance throughout

the year and during WEFTEC to strengthen volunteer leadership and engagement.

- Partners with and manages relevant volunteer groups to develop initiatives and services supporting WEF’s

member engagement objectives. Collaborate with volunteer leaders to plan training opportunities throughout

the year, including in-person event(s).

- Collaborates the Managing Director of Community Engagement on specific WEF initiatives on volunteer

engagement topics of interest.

- Is the lead point-of-contact services for assigned member associations and other WEF volunteer entities.

- Liaison to internal WEF staff, member associations, and House of Delegates, as needed to ensure alignment.

- Participates in other internal WEF committees and projects as assigned.

- Other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.


Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or related degree area

- 7+ years' experience managing operations, communications, and engagement for highly active volunteer communities

- +2 year of leadership experience of people and program management

- Strong initiative and interest in advancing volunteer management and engagement for high-profile volunteer groups

- Ability to manage support staff and volunteer teams

- Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimum direction and to lead projects from initial concept to delivery

- Articulate with excellent written communication skills & ability to serve as WEF representative

- Detail oriented and accurate with excellent project management skills

- Ability to travel up to 20%


This person will work primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment.
