Description:

Samson, the worldwide leader in high performance cordage, is seeking Splicers, who will fabricate and splice various rope assemblies for inventory and orders. Splicers also must practice a high level of business ethics and professionalism while adhering to safety and quality guidelines in accordance with Samson strategy and core values.

Currently hiring for 2nd shift. Hours are subject to change.


Who You Are:

  • A team player who works well with a diverse group of individuals and can build relationships with coworkers.
  • Mechanically inclined with an aptitude to troubleshoot minor machine failures, make minor adjustments, and perform preventative maintenance.
  • A clear and concise communicator in both written and oral forms.
  • An attentive listener who can hear/perceive the nature of sounds by ear and follow verbal directions.
  • A proficient computer user with basic skills in Microsoft Windows and the Internet.
  • Capable of gathering, recording, and reporting on operational and quality metrics, through manual or automated systems.
  • Physically able to twist/turn, reach over shoulders, and stand/walk on a prolonged basis.
  • Able to lift 10 – 25lbs frequently and 25 – 50lbs occasionally.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform splices in single, seven core, flex core, and double braided products.
  • Install chafe protection.
  • Perform all post operations such as seizing, lock stitching, coating, encapsulation, and beckets, as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures and requirements, maintain a clean work area, and comply with 5S.
  • Perform quality inspection on the line while it is being spliced.
  • Engage in quality control and notify the supervisor or quality control department of any equipment or operation problems.
  • Participate in process improvement programs (i.e., Lean).
  • Use production machinery, forklift and/or pallet jack, and common hand tools.

What You Should Have:


Education

  • Required: Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills with a working knowledge of percentages and fractions. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Desired: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Forklift Certification.

Experience

  • Required: None
  • Desired: Previous experience in a production work environment.

Compensation:

  • Targeted Hiring Wage: $17.25 - $18.25
  • Hiring rate will depend on qualifications and experience
  • Samson has established wage scales for all of our positions, which are based on a minimum and maximum. The targeted hiring rate above is set to allow for employee's growth within the role. The full range for this position is $17.25 (min) - $24.77 (max) hourly.
