Mechanical/Plumbing VDC Coordinator
Responsibilities
Modeling & Detailing
Develop accurate and constructible 3D models of mechanical piping and plumbing systems using BIM/VDC software (Revit, AutoCAD, Fabrication CADmep, Navisworks, etc.).
Produce detailed spool sheets, shop drawings, and installation drawings directly from the model.
Apply company standards, specifications, and best practices to all model elements.
Coordination & Collaboration
Collaborate with other trades to identify and resolve clashes, conflicts, and constructability issues through Navisworks or other clash detection tools.
Work closely with the VDC, prefabrication, and field installation teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency from design through installation.
Participate in coordination meetings with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
Project Support
Maintain and update models throughout the project lifecycle to reflect as-built conditions.
Support prefabrication planning by providing accurate and timely shop and spool drawings.
Assist in quantity take-offs, material tracking, and installation sequencing based on model data.
Quality & Standards
Ensure all deliverables meet company quality control standards and project-specific requirements.
Follow established BIM execution plans and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
3+ years of experience in BIM/VDC modeling for mechanical piping and plumbing systems.
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Fabrication CADmep.
Strong understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems, construction methods, and industry codes/standards.
Experience with clash detection and coordination workflows using Navisworks Manage.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical/plumbing drawings, specifications, and submittals.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Preferred:
Experience in prefabrication workflows and shop drawing production.
Knowledge of laser scanning and point cloud integration.
Familiarity with Bluebeam, MS Teams, and project management software.
