As the Systems Security Engineer, the individual will assist and support with the development, configuration, testing, and evaluation of Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) solutions used to secure government customers' classified data and networks. The Engineer will work individually and as a member of a team to configure network, software, and hardware networking components and security appliances and applications to meet DoD requirements and support their installation and initialization onsite in the customers' environments.
This is a full-time on-site position (not a remote role).
Responsibilities:
- Authors CSfC Capability Packages including detailed implementation project plans and procedures.
- Configures network, software, and hardware components to meet NSA CSfC, NIAP, and DoD requirements
- Performs network design and systems integration
- Configures Nutanix hyper converged infrastructure
- Configures Certificate Authorities, OCSP Servers and Hardware Security Modules
- Configures Windows Active Directory and IIS servers
- Configures Red Hat servers to include ACAS, Syslog, Satellite, and Certificate Authority hosts
- Configures security appliances such as Trellix, Elk, or Security Onion
- Performs patching and upgrades for all systems in environment
- Verifies system compliance through continuous ACAS scans and STIG checklists
- Collaborates with other local and government departments to design approved infrastructure
- Serves as the escalation contact during large outages for Tier 2 and 3 systems.
- Documents configuration, test procedure, results, and training materials
- Provides customer training on solution daily use, management, and troubleshooting
- Provides customer solution installation and integration
- Manages contractors and vendors during the implementation phase
- Provides tier 2 and 3 support as part of a technical team
- Performs maintenance and lifecycle of system components
- Provides technical expertise to sales engineering teams during complex network developments
- Performs other tasks as required by OSC and the Government contracting office
Required Qualifications/Education and Experience:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Security+ Certification
- Professional level certifications in either Microsoft, Linux or Nutanix
- Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience performing system hardening and validation in a DoD environment such as ACAS scan remediations and STIG validations
- 5 or more years of experience maintaining Linux machines
- Prior experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and encryption algorithms
- Prior experience with configuring security devices and appliances, SIEMs, and event management software
- Prior experience with networks utilizing a remote access VPN model
- Possess the flexibility to work in both a team environment as well as independently
- Ability to communicate with technical and business staff alike
- Knowledge of commonly used ports and protocols
- Ability to develop technical documentation
- Ability to review and develop configuration guides and other customer training deliverables
Preferred Qualifications/Education and Experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering degree or Information Systems degree. Experience can be substituted in lieu of degree
- Prior experience with Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) programs, solutions, and architectures
