ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II

CLASSIFICATION: Engineering Technician II; CBA Rate $21.00 Hourly

GRADE: Non-Exempt; Regular Full-time

LOCATION: IBDSS, Test Area C-3, Eglin AFB, FL On Site

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Be able to provide semi-professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. Work pertains to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment. These technicians may be required to have some practical knowledge of science or engineering. Some positions may require a practical knowledge of mathematics or computer science. Included are workers who prepare design drawings and assist with the design, evaluation, and/or modification of electronic security systems and equipment, alarm annunciators, and have a familiarization with CCTV wiring, power requirements and codes.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Operation, modification, overhaul, corrosion control, fabrication; and testing of mechanical, electro-mechanical, electro-optical, optical-mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Systems and equipment may include installation of Type A security platforms, microwave sensor, and infrared detection systems.
  • Fiber-optic detection systems and buried line sensors.
  • Also, included may be environmental conditioning systems.
  • Duties may require complete disassembly and reassembly of system components, stripping and repainting of system exteriors, and fiberglass repairs.
  • May be required to transport, set up, and operate support equipment such as generators; towing vehicles and trailers; elevating platforms, cranes, bucket trucks, and/or forklifts.
  • Routine assignments are limited in variety and complexity and are reviewed by supervisor, engineer, or senior technician for adequacy and conformity.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.


Job Requirements:

OTHER DUTIES: Will perform general housekeeping and other job related tasks. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate or equivalent (GDE) and two years of related experience are required. A Class “A” Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work may be performed at various heights above ground level. May perform duties both inside and outside and be subjected to a variety of environmental conditions typical to the work area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be capable of performing required tasks while using wide variations of physical effort such as sitting (tracking through telescopes for long durations), running, walking, standing, crawling, climbing or remaining in awkward, sometimes strained, positions for extended periods of time.
