Your Role as a Senior Payroll Accounting Analyst

As a Senior Payroll Accounting Analyst, you will review, reconcile, and prepare payroll output data and information to ensure the accounting system/team receives such information in a timely, accurate and compliant manner. The Payroll Accounting Analyst is responsible for maintaining accurate, complete and timely payroll-related data and information to support billing, job costing, and the financial statements.

Payroll-related Accounting & Reporting

  • Perform timely weekly payroll reconciliations to ensure accurate job costing, billing and general ledger transactions exist across all platforms (CMIC and WS). Identify and research discrepancies, working with the PY and Ops teams to correct to ensure accuracy and resolving issues promptly.
  • Reconcile all payroll related general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy of balances (bank recs, union, fringe, tax, child support/garnishments, etc.)
  • Perform complex research and reconciliation of payroll, job costing and other accounting differences and errors ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded, resolving issues in a timely manner
  • Coordinate and organize all cash transactions from the payroll team via ACH, AP checks, or online to ensure accuracy of payments and record the large volume of payment date into journal entries to ensure proper recording of transactions into the GL.
  • Process payroll-related journal entries including but not limited to burden (SBA, VDC, fab shop, etc.), truck charges, OCIP, etc. Automating where possible.
  • Manage, maintain and update pay-related charge rates:
    • Daily update of Overscale pay / charge rates in CMIC
    • Monthly (or as needed) update charge rates based on new union contracts and exceptions > 2%
    • Calculate and load Non-Union charge rates (Annually and as needed throughout the year)
    • As needed - load Union pay rates/charge rates in CMIC (overscale and at scale) and WS (average of WS employee rates by trade)
  • Audit Support:
    • Coordinate reports and audit selections working with the payroll team
    • Prepare all payroll-related accruals (Yr End payroll and vacation accruals, bonus, incentive, etc.) and liaise as appropriate with accounting and operational teams.
  • Worker's Compensation Audits:
    • Coordinate & pull data to support the Work Comp Audit
    • Conduct Work Comp to 941 tie-out
  • Perform weekly employee set-up reviews to verify the accuracy of payroll records and resolve discrepancies, while partnering with Payroll & Accounting team members to continuously improve processes.
  • Ensuring team members have an understanding of accounting processes relating to payroll transactions.
  • Act as the liaison for Payroll audits by internal and external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations.

Misc.:

  • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects, work through initiatives, streamline processes to increase accuracy, efficiency, improve internal controls and compliance.
  • Identify and make recommendations to cross-functional projects, partnering with payroll, accounting and business teams driving initiatives. Articulate ideas and viewpoints regarding impacts to payroll, accounting and the business.
  • Comply with payroll and accounting policies and procedures, ensuring proper internal controls exist.
  • Assist with special projects, research and ad hoc analysis as needed.
  • Partner to understand business initiatives and their respective impact to payroll-related accounting and controls.
  • Maintain accurate written procedures for payroll-related accounting processes and functions.
  • Act as back up to Sr. Payroll Banking, Reporting & Audit Specialist

What we're looking for in you

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
  • 3+ years of Payroll Accounting experience (including: payroll accounting experience related to the construction/service industry, general ledger, and job cost accounting).
  • 3+ Years of payroll, accounting, and financial reporting systems (Workday, Wennsoft, etc.)
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and Accounting practices
  • Experience with payroll process, reports, output, analysis, research and audits
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel (VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables), Word and other Microsoft Office 365 tools
  • Meticulous attention to detail, demonstrated analytical, quantitative, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt to a fast-paced working environment

Pay Range: $69,345 - $104,018 per year.

The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors such as specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
