Function of Position:

Reporting directly to the Dean of the STEM and Health Schools, the part-time CSTEP Program Director is responsible for the leadership, management and supervision of all aspects of the CSTEP program. The director collaborates with other College departments and external partners for additional resources and support for students to enrich the collegiate experiences of students.

*This is a temporary, grant funded position that may be renewed annually contingent upon availability of grant funding and performance reviews.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Report-writing and submissions to respective agencies
  • Oversight and management of the fiscal budget
  • Facilitation of Memorandums of Understanding or Agreement with external partners
  • Exploration of additional opportunities for students with external partners
  • Oversight and leadership of staff hiring, onboarding, and training
  • Create projections and forecasts for budgetary and programmatic needs
  • Provide professional development support and guidance for staff
  • Provide oversight of data collection
  • Annual creation of and collaboration with the Advisory Board
  • Serve as a representative to college departments, statewide programs and committees, APACS (professional organization), and stakeholders
  • Collaboration with grants accounting and grants offices for fiscal tasks and budget compliance
  • Oversee the processes for programmatic compliance
  • Complete staff performance appraisals
  • Close out the program every year
  • Oversight of the Summer Bridge Program
  • Create, maintain, and adjust, if necessary, the procedures and processes within the department
  • Coordinate, in conjunction with the co-lead, CSTEP activities and events according to fiscal guidelines and in alignment with the mission of the grant and the College.
  • Coordinate, in conjunction with the co-lead, all program activities and events, including student groups, field trips, enrichment services, outreach, recruitment and retention initiatives, and activities held at the Natural Science Education Center.
  • Review all students, along with the co-lead, in the program in December/January and May/June for eligibility.
  • Participate in regional and state activities and committees.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field such as leadership, business management, health, science, education, or technology
  • Experience in a higher education setting with budget, data, and personnel management
  • Two years of higher education experience in program administration in the areas of academic support services, counseling, opportunity programs, or a related field
  • Demonstration of successful grant writing or curriculum development experience
  • Available to work on occasional weekends and evenings and to travel with and transport students to local, state, or national events
  • A strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success
  • Five years of experience serving first-generation, underrepresented, low-income, or veteran populations within higher education
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of regulations of New York State, Department of Education, or other credentialing agencies
  • Three years of experience with overseeing and creating college student access and success initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies
  • Experience with Banner, Brightspace, and Starfish systems


Additional Information:

Job Type: Part-time, in person

Hours: 17.5 Per Week

Salary: $31,608; $34.74 hourly

This position is funded by a multi-year, State grant through 06/30/2030; as such MCC deems this position as temporary in nature. Annual re-appointment is subject to employee performance and continued grant funding.
