Description:

QBE is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Wireless Technician II (Journeyman) to join our team in Doral, FL.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The Wireless Technician II is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's wireless network infrastructure, including access points, controllers, and related hardware and software, ensuring reliable and secure wireless connectivity for users

They monitor wireless network performance and usage to ensure optimal performance and availability, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues

They conduct regular assessments and audits to identify and address potential vulnerabilities and areas for improvement, contributing to the security and efficiency of the wireless network

They troubleshoot to resolve wireless network issues, including connectivity, interference, and security problems, ensuring that users have uninterrupted access to the wireless network

They collaborate with IT and Network Teams to design and implement wireless network solutions that meet organizational needs, contributing to the overall IT infrastructure

They provide technical support and guidance to end users and other IT staff on wireless network-related issues and best practices, promoting efficient and effective use of the wireless network

The Wireless Technician II receives guidance and direction from more senior staff

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant Wireless Technician II experience
  • A candidate holding a relevant Bachelor's degree may be granted 2 years' experience credit for that extra education.
  • Two years of position-specific relevant experience. Solid understanding of wireless networking technologies and protocols (e.g., 802.11 standards, Wi-Fi security protocols, RF principles).
  • Experience with wireless network design, implementation, and management.
  • Familiarity with different types of wireless network architectures and topologies. Hands-on experience with configuring and managing wireless access points, controllers, and other wireless network devices.
  • Ability to monitor wireless network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues, interference problems, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of wireless network security best practices and protocols (e.g., WPA2/3, RADIUS).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve wireless network issues.
  • Ability to analyze network logs and performance data to identify root causes of problems.
  • Experience with using network analysis tools to troubleshoot wireless network performance.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with advanced wireless technologies (e.g., 802.11ax, Wi-Fi 6, mesh networks). Knowledge of wireless network optimization techniques and tools.
  • Experience with implementing and managing wireless network security solutions (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems).
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to wireless network security.
  • Basic scripting or programming skills for automating wireless network tasks. Experience with basic project management principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with military/diplomatic operations working within a J-6/G-6/S-6 Directorate, or with Special Operations Forces (SOF) or the Department of State (DoS) facilitating user access to and use of video telecommunications across multiple commands and agencies.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA), Cisco Certified Network Associate Wireless (CCNA Wireless), CWNP (Certified Wireless Network Professional) or similar.
  • Experience at a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, INDOPACOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, STRATCOM, TRANSCOM, SOCOM, SPACECOM) or a component is desired.


Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be eligible for or have a current/active Secret Eligible clearance.
