Function of Position:

Reporting directly to the CSTEP Program Director, the part-time CSTEP Project Co-Lead coordinates, implements, and evaluates programmatic activities/events, and is instrumental in achieving grant project outcomes and the completion of grant reports. Simultaneously, this position provides direct services and support to students, including advisement, workshops, research preparation, and travel to and from conferences and events.

*This is a temporary, grant funded position that may be renewed annually contingent upon availability of grant funding and performance reviews.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the secondary advisor/guide to the MCC Academic Coach for CSTEP pathway students.
  • Coordinate, in conjunction with the lead, CSTEP activities and events according to fiscal guidelines and in alignment with the mission of the grant and the College.
  • Coordinate, in conjunction with the lead, all program activities and events, including student groups, field trips, enrichment services, outreach, recruitment and retention initiatives, and activities held at the Natural Science Education Center.
  • Review all student applications and contact the student with an acceptance or denial to the program
  • Work closely with the Program Lead for short/long-term planning and approval, reporting, and expenditures
  • Coordinate alumni relations activities
  • Oversight of the Summer Bridge Program
  • Coordinate student research experiences (REU's) with external partners
  • Organize and lead the developmental and academic, educational, financial, and career guidance of students
  • Supervise interns and tutors
  • Participate in data collection and reporting
  • Participate in regional and state activities and committees
  • Facilitate the exchange of information within the College and with external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with college and community-wide efforts to increase opportunities for students
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field such as leadership, business management, health, science, education, or technology
  • Experience in a higher education setting with budget, data, and personnel management
  • Two years of higher education experience in program administration in the areas of academic support services, counseling, opportunity programs, or a related field
  • Demonstration of successful grant writing or curriculum development experience
  • Available to work on occasional weekends and evenings and to travel with and transport students to local, state, or national events
  • A strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success
  • Five years of experience serving first-generation, underrepresented, low-income, or veteran populations within higher education
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of regulations of New York State, Department of Education, or other credentialing agencies
  • Three years of experience in overseeing and creating college student access and success initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies
  • Experience with Banner, Brightspace and Starfish systems
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently


Additional Information:

Job Type: Part-time, in person

Hours: 9 per week

Salary: $28,921; $61.79/hr.

This position is funded by a multi-year, State grant through 06/30/2030; as such MCC deems this position as temporary in nature. Annual re-appointment is subject to employee performance and continued grant funding.
