JobSummary:

The Structural Engineer is responsible for the design ofsteel and concrete structures and pipelines related to new and existing onshoreand offshore oil and gas facilities. Included functions encompass assessment, analysis, and detailed designof platforms, foundations, skids, pipelines, risers and relatedappurtenances. This involves projectphases from conceptual engineering through construction, installation, andstart-up. Design specifications,regulatory compliance, and project documentation are additional functions ofthis position. Coordinating with anddirecting Designers and Drafters of structural and other disciplines isrequired to accomplish project tasks.

JobDuties and Responsibilities:

• Conceptual, preliminary and detailedstructural analysis and design, related to a variety of onshore and offshore,oil & gas facility projects;

• Perform structural analysis utilizing theSACS™ suite of computer programs (analysis types include In-place, loadout,transportation, installation, fatigue, and non-linear (pushover));

• Effectively reference current AISC, ASCE, API,AWS, ISO, and other industry regulatory, and project specific standards andcodes;

• Work on multiple projects of moderate size orportions of major projects;

• Develop project calculations and documentationusing tools such as Mathcad, MS Word and MS Excel;

• Develop regulatory submittals (e.g.: BSEE,USCG, ABS, etc.);

• Utilize existing project guidelines and designtools;

• Interface with design team which may comprise:project managers, engineers, drafters and support staff;

• Research, learn, develop and implement variousdesign techniques which may be industry specific;

• Perform the necessary field work to obtainaccurate information required to complete the assigned task;

• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Basicor Minimum Requirements

• BS in Structural or Civil Engineering;

• For candidates with engineering degrees attainedoutside the U.S., the candidate must have attained an E.I.T. designation from aU.S. based state licensing board or provide documentation that the educationalinstitution is ABET accredited;

• More than one (1) but less than five (5) yearsrelated experience required;

• Strong knowledge and skill with MathCAD, MSExcel and MS Word;

• Ability to function on multi-disciplinaryteams;

• Strong written and verbal communicationsskills required;

• Strong organizational skills required;

• Ability to interact with staff at all levels;

• May require the ability to work overtime ortravel to off-site work locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer Intern Certification stronglypreferred.

WorkingConditions:

• Work is primarily conducted in an officeenvironment (Private or Semi-Private office) but may require occasional travelto off-site work locations;

• Field duties may require outdoor work in aplant or offshore platform atmosphere;

• Interaction with other team members, as wellas supervisors and client personnel;

• Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areasaround production machinery with extreme noise levels;

• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;

• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes;

• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.

  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;
