The program provides 24/7 support services for military members and their families. This program provides a broad array of information, resources, education, referrals, and counseling to about 4.7 million participants which includes military service members, their families, and eligible civilians at locations worldwide. The program serves as a “one source” for resource and information encompassing a comprehensive support system. These positions will be Remote opportunities
The Specialty Consultant specializes in providing information and referrals on specialized programs directly impacting military members and their families’ lives. They are responsible for providing personalized, tailored assistance and referral services to program participants. This position provides expert consultation to address core areas to support service members and their families. Consultation areas include special needs and the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), support for transitioning Veterans, relocation and transition services, building healthy relationships-partner and family relationships, new parent assistance and education, and peer-to-peer support for both service members and spouses. Consultants may support the program based on qualifications and experience. Candidates shall possess strong customer service skills, knowledge of call center operations, and knowledge and understanding of military life as well as maintain the highest degree of confidentiality, sensitivity, compassion, and respect for service members and their families. Some evening and weekend appointments may be necessary to meet the needs of the military community.
Primary Responsibilities
- Consultants may be assigned to one or more specialty consultation programs based on their experience, expertise, education, and background.
- Provide virtual support, and specialty consultation services to eligible participants seeking to speak with an individual possessing the experience, knowledge, training, tools, and resources to assist the participant.
- Navigate resources, resolve complex concerns, assess, and act in crisis situations.
- Identify high risk cases, deescalate with professionalism, and make referrals as appropriate.
- Document cases according to program guidelines.
- Document cases into the system.
- Perform follow-up calls and reporting as necessary.
- Monitor research, referrals, and additional materials sent to users/customers.
- Maintain internal and contractual training requirements.
- May perform other duties and special projects, based on business need.
- Master's degree from an accredited graduate program in a behavioral health related field such as social work, psychology, marriage/family therapy, or counseling from an accredited graduate program in a related discipline PLUS at least 4 years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a social work, psychology, marriage/family therapy, or counseling major.
- Or have a bachelor’s degree and be enrolled in a Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in a mental health related field such as social work, psychology, marriage/family therapy, or counseling. At least one year of experience under supervision that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences
- Ability to use telephonic and video-based platforms to meet contract performance requirements.
- Possess strong customer service skills, knowledge of call center operations, and knowledge and understanding of military lifestyle and culture.
- Possess experience, preferably supporting the military community, to demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following specialty areas:
- Transitioning Veterans: provide specialty consultation in all matters affecting transitioning veterans. Key areas include; VA benefits, job search, disability, healthcare, education benefits, and housing
- Wounded warrior: provide immediate assistance to wounded, ill, injured, and recovering Service members and their families, as well as wounded warrior caregivers, and provide immediate assistance to wounded, ill, injured and recovering Service members and their families, as well as wounded warrior caregivers.
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft based tools including word, outlook, excel; Web based research; electronic documentation systems.
- Must be U.S. citizens and the ability to speak fluent English.
- Pass a background check, and credential review/verification.
