Description: The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for leading the production of a variety of mechanical systems and components for the Food & Logistics group, utilizing BIM and CAD design software. This role involves working under the guidance of a Professional Engineer to coordinate design intent with project stakeholders and communicate effectively across disciplines.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation of mechanical engineering design models, technical drawings, construction documents, details, and specifications in both 3D and 2D formats using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and other engineering software.
  • Collaborate with internal and external project stakeholders to ensure design intent aligns with project requirements while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Identify design errors or discrepancies and report them promptly to the Engineer of Record for correction.
  • Ensure all designs comply with the National Building Code, International Building Code, and applicable industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct quality control checks on design outputs to maintain high standards of accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including design models, construction documents, specifications, and schedules.
  • Ensure the timely submission and issuance of project deliverables for each project phase in accordance with the project schedule and timeline.
  • Assist in site assessments and evaluations to gather necessary data for project design.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, software advancements, and best practices to enhance design processes and team efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in mechanical engineering design software, including Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, among other.
  • Proficiency in Cloud Collaboration and model coordination software (Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Desktop Connector, Autodesk Navisworks)
  • Ability to analyze complex engineering data and designs to identify potential issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices, particularly in the Food & Logistics industrial and commercial sector.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with project stakeholders and convey technical information clearly.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in design models, plans, and compliance with regulations.
  • Ability to manage timelines, budgets, and project deliverables effectively while adhering to project schedules.
  • Capacity to identify design errors and discrepancies and to develop creative solutions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, fostering a positive and productive work environment.


Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field, or currently working toward a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in mechanical design or engineering, preferably in the Food & Logistics industrial and commercial sector.
  • Demonstrated experience using mechanical engineering design software, specifically Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification preferred; pursuit of Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a plus.
  • Familiarity with National and International Building Codes and applicable design criteria documents, standards and practices.
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary projects and collaborating with various stakeholders is highly desirable.

  • Flexibility to travel on short notice for urgent business needs, to attend meetings, trainings, and events.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance during business trips.
  • Compliance with company travel policies and procedures.


Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
    • Ability to use a computer, phone, printer, scanner, and other office equipment.
    • Visual acuity for detailed work and computer use
    • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds of files, documents, and materials.
