Department Overview

Under direct supervision, primarily performs basic research or lab activities similar to a Research Assistant 1 or Lab Aide*.

Function/Duties of Position
  • Synthesize and purify chemical building blocks and fluorophores.
  • Conduct structural, purity and photophysical property characterization for the newly developed compounds.
  • Clean glassware, organize reagents, restock supplies and update inventories.
  • Participate in lab meetings and contribute to manuscripts and figures as needed (writing, figures, data).

Required Qualifications
  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in Undergraduate Program (minimum 6 credit hours)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Major in Chemistry or related field

  • One year wet lab experience

  • Synthetic chemistry


Additional Details

Part time, ~15-20 hr/week. Flexible work hrs. Able to be trained to assist synthetic organic chemistry lab work and optical data collection for the newly synthesized compounds in a chemistry lab. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
