Compensation: starting at $65,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Position Summary:
The National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI), a Department of Defense (DoD)-sponsored University Affiliated Research Center (UARC), is seeking an Electrical Engineer at its Melbourne, Florida office and surrounding locations.
The National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Electrical Engineer to support a research and development project beginning October 1, 2025. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to support laboratory-based research involving measurement systems, instrumentation, and data acquisition. This is a full-time position guaranteed for an initial period of 12 months, with the potential for up to two additional 12-month extensions based on project performance and funding availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of electronic systems and components
  • Perform laboratory measurements, instrumentation setup, and data collection
  • Contribute to the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab equipment
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigator, senior engineers and project leads to support research tasks
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation and reports
  • Support integration and validation of systems and components under test conditions
  • Participate in technical meetings and present results as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary research environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and measurement techniques
  • Exposure to or interest in radio frequency (RF) systems
  • Familiarity with programming and data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW)
  • Prior experience in a research or laboratory environment
