Bachelor’s degree in physical education or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, four years of expereince in Athletic Training or a related field, one year of which was in a supervisory capacity, and certification with the National Athletic Trainer’s Association. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred. Experience in a collegiate setting is preferred.
Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s Athletics department is seeking to hire a temporary full-time Athletic Trainer Supervisor. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
- Supervises Athletic Trainers, graduate interns, and student assistants to include assigning duties and checking work.
- Oversees team medical needs during practice participation, intercollegiate athletic contests, and required medical coverage for intercollegiate team travel to off campus events.
- Coordinates injury prevention and management, assists with the areas of wellness, nutrition, concussion management, and sickle cell trait screening.
- Oversees the use of and operates a variety of athletic training equipment to include medical modalities.
- Maintains a daily record of treatments and injuries.
- Maintains confidentiality of medical documents.
- Assists the Director of Sports Medicine with professional and administrative services essential for the successful implementation and development of the sports medicine program.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
- Related duties as required.
