Duties and Responsibilities

On-Campus Events:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute a comprehensive schedule of on-campus events including Open Houses, Admitted Student Days, daily visits, group tours, information sessions, and other recruitment and yield-related programming
  • Oversee the campus tour program, including hiring, training, and managing the Maritime Ambassadors (student tour guides)
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for school and group visits, ensuring a high-quality experience aligned with institutional messaging and goals
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, current students, and departments across campus to coordinate event logistics and content delivery
  • Utilize data and feedback to evaluate event effectiveness and implement improvements

Communications and Outreach:

  • Assist the Associate Director with managing external admissions communications using Slate CRM, including email campaigns, event invitations, and personalized outreach
  • Maintain accurate contact records, segment audiences, and ensure timely and consistent messaging throughout the recruitment funnel
  • Participate in planning and executing Spring Yield initiatives, including admitted student engagement campaigns, conversion events, and the review and dissemination of scholarship awards to attract and enroll new incoming students

Alumni Engagement and Recruitment:

  • Coordinate the Privateer Recruitment Officer Program (PROP) in partnership with the Alumni Association, serving as the primary liaison between alumni volunteers and the Admissions Office
  • Train, and support alumni volunteers participating in outreach and recruitment activities, including college fairs, interviews, and communications with prospective students
  • Track and report on PROP outcomes and expand alumni participation in strategic recruitment regions

General Admissions Duties:

  • Participate in application review, admissions counseling, and on- and off-campus recruitment as needed
  • Represent SUNY Maritime College at high school visits, college fairs, and regional events on occasion


Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in admissions, event planning, alumni relations, or higher education
  • Proven experience managing events and/or outreach programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Communications, or related field
  • Familiarity with the SUNY system and/or maritime education
  • Experience with Slate CRM and other communications or data platforms
  • Experience working with alumni or volunteer coordination programs


Additional Information:

Classification/Salary Range: The Assistant Director of Admissions for Campus Experience is a UUP position. The anticipated salary range for the position is $65,000 to $75,000 annually, with an outstanding benefits package. For more information please see the UUP-FT-Benefits-at-a-Glance. Special Notes: This is a full-time calendar year (12 month) appointment UUP Position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
