Laboratory Research Specialist

This staff member will support the Shiva lab by organizing and analyzing clinical blood samples from ongoing studies, perform additional experimental tasks along with data analysis, assist with regulatory oversight and assist in general lab management.

Key Duties include the coordination with clinical collaborators and acquisition, measurement and organization of clinical blood samples; basic biochemical and molecular measurements to support ongoing Shiva lab projects, animal colony genotyping, data analysis and interpretation, simple lab reagent/restocking management.

Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.

Essential Functions

This staff member will function to provide general lab maintenance and experimental support as well as be the liaison between the Shiva Lab and clinical collaborators.

Physical Effort

Extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling. Must have ability to walk to various other university labs and offices. Light lifting of lab equipment.
