Position Summary:
ANSER is seeking a Principal Space Systems Engineer Space Segment to serve as a key Space Segment subject matter expert supporting a space defense program.  In this key role you will provide subject matter expertise for various space segment systems.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Provide expert engineering, operational, and technical support across the entire space systems acquisition lifecycle.
- Support acquisition planning and execution for advanced technologies, future concept development, and system integration efforts.
- Advise program leadership on cost, schedule, and performance matters to support data-driven decision-making.
- Draft and revise acquisition documentation and JCIDS artifacts, including CONOPS, Acquisition Strategies, System Specifications, and Capability Development Documents.
- Prepare and deliver internal and external briefings, technical reports, and documentation aligned with DoD standards (e.g., MIL-STD).
- Develop and present SME-level technical and programmatic status reports for individual programs or the broader portfolio.
- Identify and recommend improvements to acquisition processes, organizational workflows, and technical approaches.
- Support risk management by identifying risks, defining mitigation processes, and contributing to the development of comprehensive risk mitigation plans.
- Monitor program schedules and acquisition execution, assess requirement shortfalls, and maintain current acquisition reports using baseline data.
- Analyze execution data to support program assessments and ensure alignment with performance metrics and objectives.
- Support and participate in technical engagements such as design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and program conferences.
- Maintain situational awareness across portfolio programs and technology development efforts to ensure cross-program alignment.
- Collaborate with integrated product teams and working groups to align system requirements, planning, and execution.
- Provide technical insight to support mission protection, anomaly resolution, and mission data analysis.
- Conduct and review impact assessments, compliance inspections, readiness reviews, audits, and technical studies to support engineering oversight and assurance.
Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years relevant experience in government acquisition programs related to space engineering and system development.
- Masters Degree in related technical or scientific discipline
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
- Expertise space system development and operations.
- Prior experience in taking space system technologies through the various technology readiness levels.
- Prior experience and subject matter expertise in space system signature measurements, predictions, and sensor development,
