Description:

Pono Aina Management LLC is currently seeking a Custodian to join their growing team at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The qualified candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and general appearance of assigned buildings, facilities, and surrounding areas. This role is essential to providing a safe, clean, and healthy environment for military personnel, their families, and civilian staff. The work may be performed in a variety of settings including, but not limited to, office buildings, barracks, training facilities, community centers, and retail spaces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning and Sanitation:
  • Perform routine and deep cleaning of floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing.
  • Clean, disinfect, and restock restrooms and lavatories, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and paper product dispensers.
  • Dust, wipe down, and polish furniture, equipment, fixtures, and other surfaces.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions.
  • Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins, and transport waste to designated disposal areas.

Floor Maintenance:

  • Operate and maintain a variety of floor care equipment such as buffers, burnishers, auto-scrubbers, and carpet extractors.
  • Perform specialized floor care services like stripping, waxing, and shampooing carpets.
  • Report any damage or maintenance needs related to flooring to the supervisor.

General Duties:

  • Lock and unlock offices, classrooms, and conference areas as needed to perform cleaning duties.
  • Rearrange furniture to its original position after cleaning.
  • Report safety hazards, maintenance issues, and supply needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • May be required to perform duties outdoors, such as removing snow or debris from walkways.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including the proper use of protective equipment (PPE).
  • Handle and use cleaning chemicals and agents safely and in accordance with manufacturer instructions and established procedures.
  • Comply with all Fort Sill and U.S. Army regulations regarding security and conduct.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED is often preferred, but not always required.
  • Prior custodial or janitorial experience is desirable.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of common cleaning solvents, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand written materials and instructions.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong time management skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical work, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to lift and carry loads, typically up to 20-50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work in an environment with potential exposure to dirt, dust, and cleaning agents.
