Description

Are you ready for your next challenge?

Leidos Digital Modernization team is looking for a Junior Data Scientist, who will work closely with a specialized team of data scientists, as well as a larger team of software developers, network engineers, senior investigators, program managers, researchers, and data analysts to design, build, and optimize a Data Science platform to produce and analyze results, disseminate findings, and contribute to data optimization.

What will you do in this role?

  • Conduct data analysis to support the department’s planning and assessment, including Measures of Effectiveness (MOE), Measures of Performance (MOP), and campaign impact evaluations.
  • Translate complex datasets into clear visuals, dashboards, and narrative reports for planners, leadership, and assessment teams.
  • Work on small projects analyzing a variety of big data covering cloud, cybersecurity, and network.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and engagement patterns across cyber and networks.
  • Support multiple simultaneous projects and take open-ended or high-level guidance, independently and collaboratively make discoveries that are mission-relevant, and package and deliver the findings to a non-technical audience.
  • Leverage your strong background in research design, exploratory analysis, quantitative methods, and user interface application design.
  • Build statistical and machine learning models, conduct natural language processing (NLP), and develop automated solutions for complex business challenges.
  • Construct and execute complex database search queries across multiple databases using SQL and API interfaces.
  • Perform web scraping and apply various techniques for processing unstructured data.
  • Leverage automation and machine learning to manage data, predict scenarios, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Leverage technologies, including AWS and Git.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have an active DoD Secret or Top-Secret clearance.
  • BS in Data Science or Data Analytics and 2+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • Experience with Python is required.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases and APIs for data extraction are required.
  • Experience with supervised and unsupervised learning and natural language processing (NLP) is required. Familiarity with NLP libraries and tools (e.g., spaCy, Hugging Face, NLTK, or TensorFlow).
  • Experience with frequentist statistics, probability, and predictive modeling, along with knowledge of computer science concepts, data architecture, and statistical methods

Come break things (in a good way). Then build them smarter.

We're the tech company everyone calls when things get weird. We don’t wear capes (they’re a safety hazard), but we do solve high-stakes problems with code, caffeine, and a healthy disregard for “how it’s always been done.”
