Job Description

ProSource360 is seeking a full-time Biomedical Engineer to provide technical and professional support to the Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS) Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) program in support of medical equipment projects. The Biomedical Engineer will assist with the planning, implementation, and sustainment of medical device and clinical system upgrades to ensure patient safety, compliance, and clinical efficiency.


Projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Replacement of Nihon Kohden patient monitoring with Philips patient monitoring systems.
  • Upgrade of the Clinical Information System (CIS)/Anesthesia Record Keeper (ARK) from Picis 10.3 to Picis 10.4.
  • Upgrade of General Electric (GE) Marquette Universal System of Electrocardiography (MUSE) servers.
  • Upgrade of Welch Allyn Connex servers.
  • Replacement of Becton Dickinson (BD) infusion pumps and associated server upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project management, coordination, and system configuration design with clinicians and vendors for implementation of medical equipment and systems.
  • Conduct technical analysis, risk assessment, and specification development for each upgrade/replacement project.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, IT, vendors, and clinical staff to ensure proper siting, safety compliance, connectivity, and security documentation for all projects.
  • Oversee site readiness activities, including network connectivity, device installation needs, and system integration.
  • Conduct inspections, functional testing, and user acceptance testing to validate performance and compliance of equipment upgrades.
  • Support cutover planning, go-live activities, and transition to operational sustainment.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with VA, TJC, NFPA, FDA, and other applicable standards during all phases of equipment lifecycle management.
  • Provide technical training and support for HTM staff and end users on upgraded systems.
  • Support configuration management, ensuring accurate documentation of system specifications, connectivity, and software versions.
  • Facilitate ongoing sustainment, including monitoring safety alerts, recalls, cybersecurity risk management, and hardware/software refresh cycles.

Work Schedule:

Day Shift, Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:00am - 4:00pm

No Weekends, No Call

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Biomedical/Clinical Engineering or related discipline, or Certification as a Clinical Engineer (CCE).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of hospital or healthcare experience maintaining or managing medical equipment programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer-based medical systems, networking protocols, and information security as applied to healthcare technology.
  • Proven ability to apply project management principles to the deployment of medical equipment and clinical systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and industry standards including TJC, NFPA, FDA, and ISO.
  • Valid Driver's License for travel to PVAHCS sites as needed.
  • Security: Must possess the ability to pass a government background check/security clearance. Must be a US Citizen.

Highly Desired Skills

  • Experience with Philips patient monitoring systems, Picis ARK/CIS, GE MUSE, Welch Allyn Connex, and BD infusion pump technologies.
  • Familiarity with VA HTM processes, enterprise risk assessments (ERAs), and cybersecurity compliance for medical devices.
  • Proficiency in project documentation, lifecycle management, and system integration for complex medical systems.
