Special Education Team Chair
Job Title: Special Education Team Chair
Location: On-Site, Boston
Position Type: Full-Time; 10-month position
The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy.
Summary of position:
The Team Chair serves as Manville's primary liaison to Local Education Agency's (LEAs), overseeing the school's compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and TEAM meeting functions. The Team Chair works as part of an interdisciplinary team to support the academic programming and systems of the school and communicates with internal teams regarding meeting summaries and signed documents.

Essential duties:
  • Serves as Manville's primary liaison to Local Education Agency's (LEAs) and maintains ongoing communication regarding status of students.
  • Coordinates and monitors student IEP processes including all paperwork and quarterly reporting to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Understands and implements federal, state, and local laws, policies, regulations, and procedures and protocols including the implications of liability and requirements of due process.
  • Assists in the coordination of, and in some cases, may provide staff development and workshops/trainings regarding changes or updates in regulations/requirements for the IEP.
  • Oversees the Team Meeting process, and adherence to Individual Education Programs based on eligibility guidelines and in accordance with Federal and State requirements and is responsible for seeing that all timelines are met and all required paperwork is completed.
  • Communicates with internal teams regarding meeting summaries and signed documents.
Qualifications
Education:
  • M.Ed. in Special Education.
Experience:
  • Minimum of five years of experience in special education, knowledge of current state regulations pertaining to the IEP process required.
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating team meetings in compliance with state regulations.
Training:
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations related to special education, including Massachusetts DESE guidelines.

Salary: $81,000 - $93,000
