Responsibilities

  • Lead gap analysis and analyzation of complex factory operations and supply chains to determine optimum configurations to help execute the strategic vision for lean transformation utilizing lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement and DMAIC methodologies
  • Ensure facility efficiency and workplace safety.
  • Facilitate the planning and implementation of workplace flow & layout improvements according to Industrial and Lean Engineering concepts
  • Responsible for evaluating and recommending new technologies or more efficient manufacturing process to support new and existing product lines touching on plan for every part, SMED, TPM, OEE, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Factory etc.
  • Lead projects of small to large scope and impact to meet customer expectations including leading Kaizen events (schedule meetings, handle any follow up and hand over to ops leaders upon completion) and other events on factory transformation  using DMAIC methodology
  • Perform cost evaluations and justification analysis; evaluate systems, methods, human factors, workflow, and other opportunities for productivity improvement
  • Develop and execute lean and continuous improvement plans and projects; including requirements, deliverables, resources, timing and risks
  • Communicate ideas and project status clearly and professionally through graphic and written media, and oral presentations. Provide necessary documentation of activities, results, assignments.
  • Maintain knowledge of and expertise in the latest developments in the areas of Industrial and Lean Engineering; define their applicability to the Westminster site; develop and apply these systems and technologies through successful projects
  • Responsible for the accuracy of work performed; take a can-do approach to ensure quality of work
  • Serve as a technical coach for peers/customers as required
  • Perform cycle time and bottleneck analyses.
  • Develop and improve work methods.
  • Interact with production management on a daily basis on all matters relating to productivity and utilization.
  • Attend training sessions, seminars, and conferences to expand job knowledge and skills repertoire.


Qualifications



  • Minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing related functions in machining/assembly environment in a high mix low volume facility working as an industrial or manufacturing engineer.
  • Working knowledge of engineering fundamentals, lean concepts (such as Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement methodologies), practices, and tools is required
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience. Industrial/Systems/Manufacturing Engineering degree preferred.
  • Experience improving material and product flow in operations, connecting flow in operations
  • Understand facility constraints such as space, machine capacity, materials movement, and utilities
  • Must have strong interpersonal / relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of metal machining and assembly functions in a high mix low volume manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Must be familiar with ISO processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles.
  • Capability to develop a project plan and to manage a project to completion.
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proficiency in English
  • Must be outgoing, influential and possess the willingness and ability to work with others
