Job Title: Application Engineer (Systems Administrator)
Job Location: Remote, GA
ResponsibilitiesThe Application Engineer is responsible for engineering, designing, and implementing software solutions in an effective and timely manner, to meet the business and technical requirements for the All Partners Access Network (APAN).
Daily Job Responsibilities:
- Working and interacting closely with teams from different disciplines, including Software Development, Quality Assurance, Knowledge Management, and Core Cloud Services.
- Performing troubleshooting, debugging, and unit testing procedures to ensure proper and smooth integration with APAN’s enterprise IT operations.
- Understanding customers’ challenges and needs.
- Applying technical expertise and experience to design and develop software, controlling systems, and embedded applications to improve APAN’s enterprise applications, using diverse information technologies, standards, and processes.
- Operating within a complex, cloud-based network environment.
- Writing, maintaining, and updating all the technical information like technical reports, programming details, design specifications, and other relevant information related to troubleshooting for future reference 2+ years of experience in application development in ASP.NET.
- Writing and updating support applications that aid in the developmental and integration of APAN enterprise processes.
- Creating software that is efficient and is maintained in compliance with the DoD’s and APAN’s enterprise internal and external quality, coding, and security standards.
- Conducting peer and subordinate code reviews of work products.
- Applying proficiency with C#, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Java, HTML, CSS, and/or VB.NET.
- Applying a working knowledge of modern web technologies, including web services, blogs, wikis, forums, social networking, and crowd-sourcing.
- Applying proficiency in version control systems using Azure DevOps, Git, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, or equivalent.
- Applying strong organizational skills. Strong ability to communicate in verbal, written, and business presentation styles.
- Applying an ability to describe the client's landscape via scenarios and use cases.
- Applying an ability to execute Agile/SCRUM software methodology and maintain software through all parts of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Independently managing time and prioritizing tasks to achieve results within cost and schedule constraints.
- Applying knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio 20xx/Visual Studio Code.
- Applying knowledge of Windows Server 2012R2/2016/2019, Active Directory, MS SQL 2012/2016/2017/2019.
- Applying knowledge of cloud/virtualized infrastructure, including Amazon Web Services, Azure, or VMware.
- Applying knowledge about software development processes, integration testing, and infrastructure.
- Making and communicating rational design decisions from business and technical perspectives with recommendations.
- Performing other duties as required.
QualificationsActive, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance.
Due to the nature of the work and US Government required, US Citizenship is required.
- Six years direct experience in the last eight years.
- DoD IAT Level II certification.
Desired Qualifications:- Proficiency in programming code using .NET, JavaScript, Ruby, Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Fluency or working knowledge with infrastructure-as-code solutions using AWS CloudFormation and Chef.
- Ability to work with AWS, including AWS SDK, AWS API, Command Line Interface, AWS CloudFormation, and automated deployment or configuration tools.
- Knowledge of AWS or Azure platform features, capabilities, and all security features and tools that AWS provides at the associate level.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps pipeline releases and deployments to Development & Test/Staging Environments, or Blue-Green deployments.
- Knowledge of configuration management practices and modern CM tools.
- Ability to integrate multiple systems or applications in a complex, cloud-based infrastructure.
- Experience with a broad variety of enterprise and cloud data, software, and hardware solutions.
- Experience with building, delivering, and managing cloud solutions.
- Experience with migrating, architecting, building, and deploying applications in cloud-based environments.
- Ability to configure, deploy and troubleshoot computer, networking, storage, and database Cloud services and issues.
- Experience with engineering large-scale distributed systems in AWS or Azure Cloud (AWS Certified Solutions Architect/Developer, or Microsoft Certified Azure Developer).
- Knowledge of infrastructure layers, including VMWare and Red Hat Linux OS.
- Well-versed in engineering standards for cloud systems and performs analysis to determine optimum outcomes in coordination with technical director and management.
Education:- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline. With at least ten years of general experience of which seven years is directly related experience, a degree is not required.
