Position Summary:
ANSER is seeking a Staff Action Officer to support the Department of Defense Chief Information Officer (DoD CIO) onsite at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. This key role requires a professional experienced in supporting senior DoD officials.
This position requires on-site work 5 days a week.Â
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Prepare informational briefings for senior executives in their preparation for internal and external speaking engagements. Develop topic/issue backgrounds including a full explanation of the issue, who is the target audience, desired outcomes, event schedule, and other relevant information.
- Draft talking points and correspondence that target specific DoD CIO issues, internal and external audiences, and/or topics. Review and edit draft responses for external communications for message and format consistency.
- Support project management framework and governance process implementation, operation, and development for DoD CIO C3.
- Develop project management process, tools, and best practices to support the monitoring and execution of DoD CIO programs, actions, and taskers and reporting mechanisms to ensure programs, actions, and taskers progress against established milestones.
- Coordinate operations and with subject matter experts to identify, recommend enhancement, or the adoption of existing project management frameworks and strategic frameworks to effectively accomplish programs, actions, and taskers.
- Assist in coordinating governance issuance, processes, and new legislation reviews with other departments and ASD Legislative Affairs.
- Attend forums department wide; identify issues requiring higher level adjudication to Senior level CIO leadership; and assist the department in presenting issues through increasingly higher-level forums.
- Track governance process issues/topics such as the execution of decisions and directives. Periodically inform stakeholders on departmental progress towards achieving decisions, directives, and departmental digital modernization objectives.
- Ensure all official correspondence (e.g., transmittal letters, memos, and presentations) conform to DoD requirements and standards.
- Create, track, technically edit, and/or support Correspondence and Task Management System (CATMS) packages.
- Ensure the smooth functioning of the office, including answering and routing phone calls and greeting/escorting guests, supporting personnel onboarding / offboarding, requesting and managing government-furnished equipment and supplies, coordinating the resolution of IT and network issues, greeting and escorting visitors, and burn bag destruction.
Required Qualifications:
- Possess an active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 10 + years' relevant experience in a defense or federal organization.
- 2+ years of Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD)-level experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior operations management and administrative experience.
- Background in C3 operations, policy and/or governance forums.
- Knowledge of DoD correspondence requirements.
- Recent experience with CATMS.
- Prior experience working in senior level DoD front office.
