Job Summary
The Graphic Artist Senior provides high-impact visual design and illustration support for large-scale, multidisciplinary, and strategically important research proposals and other grant applications as appropriate. Working as part of the Proposal Development Office (PDO), the specialist is critical to enhancing the clarity, accessibility, and competitiveness of grant applications to a wide array of federal and non-federal sponsors by creating custom visuals and complex print-ready artwork, such as process schematics, data visualizations, graphs, charts, conceptual figures, renderings, infographics, and graphical abstracts.
This position requires advanced artistic and technical expertise, along with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into visuals that resonate with a wide array of audiences, including external funding agencies and lay audiences. PDO graphics support is provided to grant applicants from all scientific disciplines across campus, requiring the ability to work across widely varying fields of research and scholarship. The graphics support specialist works in close collaboration with principal investigators and proposal development staff to plan, design, and execute visual communication strategies tailored to the proposal goals and sponsor’s expectations.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a wide range of technical and non-technical illustrations, 2D/3D visualizations, and infographics.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), BioRender, or equivalent platforms.
