SCOPE: TRAINING SPECIALIST
The Training Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, delivering, and tracking training programs for employees in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role ensures that all employees are properly trained in safety, food quality, regulatory compliance (e.g.., GMP's, HACCP), and standard operating procedures (SOP's).
The Training Specialist plays a key role in fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: TRAINING SPECIALIST
- Design and facilitate onboarding and job specific training for production, sanitation, maintenance, and QA teams.
- Lead recurring trainings on GMPs, Food Safety, HACCP, safety protocols, and departmental trainings.
- Utilize various training formats including classroom instruction, e-learning, hands-on demonstrations, and video-based learning..
- Maintain accurate training records in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Track employee training completion and follow up on overdue or refresher training requirements.
- Ensure training programs meet all regulatory and customer audit requirements (USDA, FDA, BRC).
- Partner with managers, supervisors, QA and Operations leadership to identify training needs and improve training effectiveness.
- Assist in developing SOPs, work instructions, and training materials with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure training content is accurate and aligned with industry standards.
- Schedule training sessions and coordinate logistics for internal and external training events.
- Administrate training platforms.
QUALIFICATIONS: TRAINING SPECIALIST
- Education:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in education, food science, human resources, business, or related field preferred.
- Or certification in training and development.
- Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in training, and development, preferably in a food manufacturing or production environment.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance in food safety (GMPs, HACCP, BRC) is a strong plus.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal, is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in e-learning platforms, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to create engaging and effective training materials.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage learners.
Work Environment
- Must be able to work in both office and production environments, including cold/wet/hot areas, and be able to wear appropriate PPE as required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support 2nd or 3rd shift operations.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.).
- Ability to move between office and plant floor frequently.
