Outreach and Response Specialist



The University of Pittsburgh’s Office of Institutional Engagement and Wellbeing is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Outreach and Response Specialist. The Outreach and Response Specialist is responsible for providing front line response to individuals impacted by incoming reports of harassment, discrimination, or retaliation, which include all forms of harassment and discrimination, including sexual misconduct (sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating or domestic violence, and stalking). Front line response will generally include assessing the need for interim measures, facilitating referrals, coordinating information with the assigned Specialist, and other triage needs.

This position will assist with supporting outreach and awareness activities sponsored by the office and engage in prevention training for all civil rights areas. This position will also conduct informal resolution for civil rights matters and assist with designing, developing, and facilitating in person and online education modules in addition to other duties as assigned.

At least two years of experience in social services, student affairs, or similar setting is strongly preferred.


Job Summary

Oversees day-to-day response to reports of discrimination and harassment and investigates claims and complaints of discrimination. Develops and implements educational training programs on anti-discrimination laws and regulations. Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of appropriate disclosures, policies, procedures, and practices. Conducts climate surveys, manages inquiries, and organizes other files regarding compliance.

Duties are primarily sedentary. Must be able to use a computer at a desk or similar workstation, and travel to on campus meetings as needed.
