Department Overview
This position seeks a researcher to work on heart and heart development projects. This person would either work on i) computational modeling (using physics-based models and simulations) or ii) performing manipulations on embryos at different stages of development, and get outcome data. Candidates wishing to advance both areas (computational and experimental) are welcome too. Data to be collected/analyzed includes various imaging acquisitions (in vivo and from samples that will need to be properly prepared – including histology and confocal data), genome data, physiological data, blood flow data, etc. This position will also assist with data interpretation and preparation of manuscripts for publication.
Function/Duties of PositionBachelor's in relevant field OR
Associate's AND
3 years of relevant experience OR
4 years of relevant experience OR
Equivalent combination of training and experience
College level biology lab experience or experience with biomechanics/mechanics concepts and labs.
Ability to manipulate tiny embryos under the microscope or setup computer simulations. Attention to detail.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills, and outstanding analytical skills to gather, analyze and interpret data.
Experience manipulating and staging chicken embryos, and collecting samples from them.
Experience preparing samples for confocal/histological imaging, and confocal/histological imaging acquisition.
Experience with in vivo imaging.
Experience with image analysis and segmentation.
Experience with computational modeling (FEA, CFD).
Image analysis skills.
Use of MatLab programming and/or other programming languages.
