Department Overview

The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, known as one of the pioneers in personalized cancer medicine, is an international leader in research and cancer treatment. Driven by its mission to end cancer as we know it, the institute is building upon its expertise in targeted treatments to advance the early detection of cancer when the disease is most treatable.

 

The primary mission of the Division of Oncological Sciences at OHSU's Knight Cancer Institute is to better understand cancer through basic, translational and population-based research that improves cancer prevention, detection and treatments for all. Our community of faculty, trainees and staff brings together scientists from a broad range of disciplines and works collaboratively to advance innovation and translate discoveries from the lab into meaningful impacts for cancer patients and our community.

Function/Duties of Position

Under direct supervision, primarily performs basic research or lab activities similar to a Research Assistant 1 or Lab Aide. The student worker will perform basic cell culture experiments and data analysis. 


Required Qualifications

Enrolled in High School


Preferred Qualifications

Previous lab experience

General cell biology
Basic programming skill, e.g. R and Python
