General Description
Execute sales and operational strategy by managing the preconstruction, estimating, and construction phases of projects. Initiate and maintain relationships with clients, ensure accurate proposals and budgets are developed, and oversee project execution through completion. Provide leadership and supervision to project teams to ensure alignment with client expectations and McCoy Rockford’s standards of quality, safety, and profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Preconstruction & Estimating
- Lead preconstruction activities including scope reviews, constructability analysis, and schedule development.
- Prepare and review detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
- Coordinate with design, sales, and vendor partners to ensure accurate pricing and scope coverage.
- Evaluate subcontractor/vendor bids and negotiate favorable terms.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and performance standards.
Project & Client Management
- Strong ability to manage project transition from Sale to Project Start
- Oversee projects and business relationships with assigned accounts, exceeding customer expectations.
- Review job site conditions, Coordinate field dimensions , and ensure project readiness.

- Communicate project status, issues, and change order requests promptly to clients and internal teams.
- Ensure all work scopes are substantially complete, invoiced, and documented accurately.

Supervisory & Leadership Skills
- Supervise and mentor project coordinators, estimators, and field staff, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
- Assign workloads, monitor progress, and provide coaching to optimize team performance.
- Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development plans.
- Act as a liaison between field teams, subcontractors, and leadership to resolve conflicts and align priorities.
Business Development Support
- Call prospective customers, establish buying cycles, and build strong customer relationships.
- Identify revenue opportunities within assigned accounts and support marketing, business development, and community outreach.
- Support project scope and proposal creation with Stakeholders.
- Assist in developing accurate sales projections and forecasts.
- Manage client set up and contracting processes.
- Provide preconstruction presentation support
Key Selection and Success Factors
Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction operations, estimating, or project management.
- Proven supervisory experience with successful team leadership.
- Experience in preconstruction planning and cost estimating required.
Education/Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Other/Preferred
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to balance competing priorities.
- Proficient in estimating software, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management tools.
- Strong people skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and lead diverse teams.
