Job Description
ProSource360 is seeking a Mathematician to support the 711th Human Performance Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) in Dayton, Ohio. This role involves applying advanced mathematical and statistical modeling to health, personnel, and operational data. The Mathematician will design, conduct, and lead analyses, develop models, and provide actionable insights that support human performance, operational surveillance, and program evaluation across the Air Force.
Responsibilities
- Design, formulate, and lead data analysis of health surveillance data, medical records, military personnel records, and operational records at individual, unit, and force-wide levels.
- Provide program evaluation and performance analysis for human performance, readiness, and operational programs.
- Retrieve, integrate, and transform health, personnel, deployment, and surveillance data into usable formats for end-users.
- Develop statistical models and perform longitudinal and complex data analysis.
- Conduct validation and verification of models to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Draft and present reports, technical documentation, and scientific publications.
- Collaborate with technical stakeholders to address complex analytical challenges.
- Perform statistical analysis using SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, and other approved software.
- Establish data storage architecture, create comprehensive data dictionaries, and support integration of multiple datasets.
- Support knowledge transfer through briefings, presentations, and documentation of analytical methods and code.
- Participate in professional conferences, prepare posters and manuscripts, and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
- Work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment to meet project deadlines.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Operations Research, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional mathematics-related experience.
- Proficiency in at least two programming/mathematical languages (e.g., Maple, MATLAB, R, Visual Basic, Python).
- Strong skills in logical and set operations, statistical modeling, and longitudinal analysis.
- Ability to validate, verify, and refine statistical models.
- Capacity to learn and apply new analytical tools (e.g., Tableau, Python, SAS Viya, Qualtrics).
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all organizational levels.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with initiative and attention to detail.
- HIPAA training eligibility and willingness to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
Highly Desired Qualifications
- Advanced skills in developing mathematical models such as stochastic and deterministic simulations.
- Experience with SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, and spreadsheet-based decision analysis tools.
- Familiarity with regression techniques, survival analysis, Monte Carlo simulations, decision trees, tornado charts, and related methods.
- Experience in healthcare data science, military processes, and operational/healthcare modeling.
- Five or more years of recent healthcare-related data science experience.
- One or more years applying mathematics in a military setting.
