Responsibilities

The Director of Quality and Patient Safety is responsible for leading system quality and patient safety efforts across a multi-hospital system. This role ensures the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of system-wide quality and safety programs. The Director plays a pivotal role in integrating the Quality and Patient Safety departments, fostering collaboration, and supporting clinical outcomes that advance the goal of reducing patient harm.



Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field required; Advanced degree (e.g. Master’s in health care, business, or a related field) strongly preferred.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in patient safety or quality, including leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, CMS quality indicators, and patient safety principles.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Lead system-wide initiatives to reduce harm and improve clinical outcomes.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and build consensus.

  • Strong knowledge of quality and patient safety principles and practices.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor staff members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with staff, patients, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a multi-hospital system.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends related to quality and patient safety.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and accreditation requirements, including but not limited to CMS, TJC, and OHA.
  • Possesses critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
