We are pleased to announce the opening for a Senior Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL to provide support to our Engineering Services Team within our rapidly growing technology company, with multiple locations, operating in the missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, and space control marketspaces. The customer for these positions is MDA Ground-based Weapon Systems (MDA/GM), known for developing, delivering, and sustaining our nation’s homeland defense capability against Long Range Ballistic Missiles (LRBM).

Responsibilities:

You will be providing expertise regarding GM Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and analysis efforts. Duties include anticipating and discovering issues with resources, personnel, and plans; informing GM Systems Engineering leadership of expected or emerging issues; and collaborating with other GM core team leads to ensure issues are tracked across GM and dispositioned for resolution.

You will also support GM Future Planning efforts, including tracking GM Capabilities and Limitations; performing requirements-based threat analysis in support of recommendations for needed GM capability deliveries; leading the Future Architecture Tiger Team; supporting development of digital engineering process for concept systems engineering; and developing the annual GM Future Architecture briefing for delivery to the MDA Chief Architect.

Finally, you will be responsible for keeping the GM Phased Implementation Plan up to date with any changes flowed down in Agency PIP updates and communicating development impacts to GM leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

  • You must have a Master of Science degree in a STEM field. A Bachelor’s degree with 20 years of experience may be acceptable but only if approved via waiver by the MDA customer.
  • You will need 12 or more years full-time professional experience in areas such as: missile defense-related or other DoD program/projects
  • You must possess or can obtain an active Secret clearance.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following:
    • Expertise with GMD hardware and/or software
    • Understanding of GMD performance, interoperability, and dependencies on other missile defense elements.
    • Systems Engineering as a practice, along with specific knowledge of MDA engineering, requirements, test, and evaluation processes, documents, and organizational responsibilities.
    • MDA Ground and/or Flight Test Planning and/or Execution
    • Risk Management and Configuration Control
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication skills to independently develop technical white papers, briefings, etc., as required by the customer to communicate complex technical issues
  • Capability to utilize, adapt, and develop analytical tools, techniques, and processes for technical and/or administrative support activities
  • Teamwork-centered mentality, willingness to assist with solving complex problems
