Department Overview
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in the Biomedical Data Research Lab, Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University (https://www.bdrl.org/home, PI: Chi Zhang, Sha Cao). We are looking for a highly motivated, recently graduated PhD in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or related area to study metabolic variations using genomics and other multiple omics data.
The Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is recognized as a leading center for comprehensive cancer care, pioneering translational cancer research, and advanced professional training in oncology. Research at the Knight Cancer Institute aims to enhance patient outcomes by enabling earlier detection of cancer, more precise monitoring of disease progression, and the development of personalized therapies targeting the molecular underpinnings of cancer. The selected candidate will participate in NIH-/NSF-/OHSU-funded studies.
This is a 1-year grant-funded position, with the opportunity of appointment extension. Previous experience in computational biological and programing is required. Experience in computational biology, genomics data analysis and hypothesis driven research will be important skills used in this position. Prior experience with bioinformatics, preferably with the processing and downstream analysis of “omics” data are encouraged to apply.
The primary responsibility of this role will be to develop innovative computational methods to uncover complex regulatory mechanisms and druggable targets from large-scale transcriptomic and metabolic profiles of single cells.

Algorithm and computational methods/pipeline Development:
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Other duties as assigned.
Work is generally 40 hours per week during normal working hours; however, some evening and weekend work will be expected when the postdoc has hard paper/abstract/grant submission deadlines.
