Function of Position:

The PT Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor is responsible for implementing CNA curricula, as provided by the MCC Healthcare Department, to ensure that students are prepared for real-world scenarios.

The CNA program is scheduled year-round, Monday - Friday, as part of MCC's Corporate College non-credit open enrollment catalog. Clinical's are held at various approved locations in Rochester. Lecture and Skills Lab instruction is held in person at the Downtown Campus

Training is offered currently during the workday, there may be opportunity for evening and weekend shifts- based on program demand.

The PT instructor reports to the Coordinator, CNA Program.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teaches CNA curriculum, provides clinical instruction, and evaluates student performance per guidelines set by the Healthcare dept, MCC, and NYS.
  • Ensures compliance with all reporting and data tracking requirements
  • Provide supervision and guidance to students in the delivery of patient care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide the best clinical experience for students.
  • Stays current in nursing and actively participates in professional development

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid NYS RN license
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing; or hold an associate degree in nursing and be enrolled in and actively pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in nursing
  • A minimum of 2 years long term care or care of chronically ill
  • Previous teaching experience or approved train-the-trainer
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and healthcare professionals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned Masters Degree in Nursing or currently enrolled and in good standing
  • Demonstrated successful training experience, evaluating nursing programs and curriculum outcomes, and program improvement planning desirable.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.

Physical Demands of Position:

  • Moving about while instructing and demonstrating skills to students; reaching, pulling, and pushing while demonstrating while using medical equipment; able to do repetitive tasks; remain stationary at a desk while typing; teaching in a classroom and a medical facility setting for extended periods.


Additional Information:

Salary: $40-45/hr.

Schedule: Up to 20 hrs./week

Working Conditions: Typical classroom environment with travel to regional companies as needed.
